Salt Lake City police have released security camera images in hopes someone can help identify the suspect in a botched weekend robbery.
The suspect — described as a 6-foot-2, thin white male in his mid-20s, with brown hair and a goatee — approached a clerk at the counter of the Coffee Noir shop, 1035 E. 200 South, about 11:40 a.m. Sunday.
The man, who also wearing a green T-shirt, jeans and holding a satchel across his chest, showed a hand-written note to the employee that read, "Have gun give me money."
Instead of handing over the cash, however, the employee walked into a back room to tell other workers the business was being robbed — and the spooked suspect ran out of the business.
Witnesses said the suspect was last seen fleeing westbound on 200 South.
Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000, or to remain anonymous, text the keyword TIPSLCPD plus any relevant information to 274637.
