A man ejected during a collision on State Road 18 in southwestern Utah was upgraded to serious condition on Friday.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said that the 50-year-old St. George man had been flown to Dixie Regional Medical Center about 10 a.m. Thursday in critical condition.

He was a passenger in a GMC van that was struck as it pulled into the path of a Dodge pickup truck in the highway's intersection with Main Street in Enterprise.

The collision put the van into spin and the man, sitting unrestrained in the rear, was propelled out a window and onto the pavement.

The pickup truck's driver, a 28-year-old pregnant woman, was not seriously hurt but was taken by ground ambulance to Dixie Regional to be checked out. A passenger in the pickup truck and two more passengers in the van were reportedly unhurt.

The accident remained under investigation, but troopers said it did not appear either excessive speed or alcohol were factors.
