Well, at least he was an apologetic, if unsuccessful bandit.
Police said Friday they were trying to find the man who walked up to a couple walking in downtown Salt Lake City about 1 a.m. Friday, intending to rob them — before changing his mind.
Near 300 West and Pierpont Avenue, the suspect — described as a while male in his 50s, with blond hair and wearing a black mechanic's style button-up shirt with a white name tag with red lettering — approach the couple and demanded, ""Give me your cash or I'll shoot you."
The male victim pulled out his wallet, showing the would-be robber he had no cash, just credit cards.
The suspect, who never showed a handgun, then apologized — and walked away.
Apologetic or not, police would like to discuss the matter with the suspect. Anyone who has information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
