After a week of periodic gully-washing storms, Utahns anticipated a drier, sunnier weekend statewide.
Along the Wasatch Front, high temperatures on Saturday were to range into the upper-80s to low-90s, up a few degrees from Friday's forecast. The chance for thunderstorms and rain Saturday evening was just 20 percent, the same odds as given for Friday night.
Mostly clear, sun-drenched horizons were on tap for southern Utah this weekend with highs flirting with triple digits — up 3-5 degrees from Friday's daytime temperatures. Not a drop of rain was in view, the National Weather Service said.
However, the wet weather begins to build over the state come Sunday evening as monsoonal patterns re-establish themselves out of the south. Come Monday, it might be a good idea to keep the umbrella handy.
The Utah Division of Air Quality rated the entire state — with the exception of a "yellow," or compromised Washington County — as "green," or healthy through the weekend.
The Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website listed only mold as "high" while chenopods were "moderate" and other allergens "low" on the pollen index as of Friday.
