Police are looking for a man who went to an Ogden bank Thursday, placed a suspected explosive device in front of a teller and demanded money.
Police officials responded to the Bank of Utah at 115 Washington Blvd. about 1 p.m. Thursday after the suspect — identified as Randy Ted Jordan — was given an undisclosed amount of money and fled the area. Jordan left the "explosive device" in the bank, which prompted evacuations, police said.
The Davis/Weber Bomb Squad checked out the device and determined it was a fake.
Jordan is described as more than 6 feet tall, medium build, dark hair and was last seen wearing a gray shirt and tan pants. He was last seen in the 400 block of Second Street running eastbound.
Jordan has been known to drive a 1997 Ford Explorer with Idaho plate 1BV6491; police say he might have switched vehicles.
Jordan is considered armed and dangerous and police are warning not to approach him. Any who any information is asked to call police at 801-395-8221.
This is the second time in two weeks Ogden police have responded to reports of a person leaving an explosive device at a bank. July 29, a woman put a fake bomb in a bank teller window and demanded cash. She drove off before any money was handed over, police have said.
