From one crime scene to another, the video camera images captured of serial armed robbery suspects show a lot of fake dreadlocks — and not much else.

Still, multiple Salt Lake Valley police departments are hoping someone will recognize the suspect or suspects and help them put an end to their spree of holdups.

In a joint plea for public assistance on Thursday, Unified Police, Murray Police Department, Salt Lake City Police Department and the West Jordan Police Department say they believe the same long black dreadlocks wig disguise was used in 10 armed robberies, beginning July 15, 10:17 p.m., at the Mezquite Mexican Grill, 4730 S. State Street in Murray, to the two latest holdups, both last Sunday, 10:17 p.m. at a Murray Carl’s Jr., 151 E. 5300 South in Murray, and 10:58 p.m., at a Salt Lake City Shell station, 502 E. 2100 South.

Other than the wig, suspect descriptions are of males between 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-11, possibly Latino. In one case, the suspect also was described as a skinny male with a pockmarked face; in still another case, he reportedly had buck teeth.

The suspect or suspects approach the store clerk, lifts his shirt to reveal a black handgun and demands cash. Getaways are believed to be made in various stolen vehicles.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call 385-468-9814.
