Police say a South Ogden man used a sledgehammer to break down his roommate's door, then switched to a knife to stab him.

On Wednesday, the 60-year-old suspect was behind bars, having been booked into Weber County Jail on suspicion of attempted homicide and aggravated assault.

South Ogden police Sgt. David Labbe said the 53-year-old victim suffered a stab wound to the left lower leg during the 5:40 a.m. Wednesday attack. He was treated at McKay-Dee Hospital.

During questioning, police say, the suspect acknowledged he had intended to kill the victim in an otherwise unspecified dispute involving money.
