A 47-year-old woman was behind bars Monday after allegedly being caught in the act of trying to burn down a Salt Lake City coffee shop.

Salt Lake City police say officers on routine patrol spotted the woman outside the Beans and Brews at 500 E. 906 South about 3 a.m. Monday. As they watched, she allegedly stuffed newspaper around the front doors and set them afire.

The officers quickly extinguished the flames, however, and responding firefighters made sure the scene was secure.

The suspect was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers.

She was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of arson and resisting arrest.
