Price cops i.d. dead man in fire at 'known drug house'
Price police on Wednesday identified a man found dead at the scene of a suspicious fire in a known drug house.
Capt. William Barnes said the official cause of death for Brian William Swink, 32, awaited results of an autopsy.
Firefighters discovered Swink's body in the basement of the house at 423 S. 200 West about 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Barnes said Swink's last known address was not in Price, but nearby Helper. He cited the ongoing nature of the investigation in declining to discuss further details about the case.
Barnes did confirm that three people also with criminal histories involving drugs had been detained and were being questioned, but no arrests had been made or charges filed as of late Wednesday morning.
Utah court records indicate Swink had an extensive rap sheet going back to 1999, and including convictions for assault, aggravated robbery, attempted theft, attempted burglary and drug-related offenses.
"To my knowledge, he was not wanted for anything at this time, but that house was a well-known drug house in the area," Barnes said.
