A Taylorsville man died Sunday in an Idaho crash near the Utah state line.

Mark Beaslin, 60, was sleeping in the cargo area of a van driven by Kenneth Brooks, 17, of Magna, according to Idaho State Police. About 3:20 a.m., Brooks was traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 when he swerved to avoid an animal and over steered back, causing his van to overturn at milepost 273, according to the state police.

Beaslin was ejected when the van overturned. He and Brooks, who was wearing a seat belt, were taken to Bear River Valley Hospital in Tremonton, where Beaslin succumbed to his injuries.

Idaho State Police are still investigating the crash.
