A man and a girl were in critical but improved condition Thursday, two days after a pickup truck collided head-on with an SUV in Summit County, killing its driver.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said 56-year-old Sky Galli, of Woodland, and 9-year-old Madison Fitzgerald, of Kamas, both had been stabilized.

Galli was inside a westbound Chevrolet Silverado that crossed into the eastbound lane of Highway 248, 4 miles east of Kamas, about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Angela D. Fitzgerald, 38, of Kamas, was driving a Chrysler Aspen, which the pickup truck smashed into. She died at the scene.

Her daughter, a passenger in the Aspen, was flown to Primary Children's Hospital, while Galli was taken by helicopter to University Hospital, both in Salt Lake City.
