A 22-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting early Saturday in Magna.

The victim had attended a party in the 7700 West and 3000 South area and left, returning a short time later, at about 1:30 a.m., with multiple gunshot wounds, Unified Police Department Detective Ken Hansen said.

Neighbors who heard shots had called the police, he said. Metro Gang Unit officers spotted a car fleeing the area and chased it until the driver abandoned the vehicle. Two passengers were taken into custody but later released; the car has been impounded.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000.
