Trucks roll, one catches fire on I-15 in Box Elder County

First Published Jun 26 2014 01:26 pm • Last Updated Jun 26 2014 02:52 pm

Two separate accidents involving trucks less than 35 miles apart in northern Utah snarled traffic on Interstate 15 late Thursday morning into early afternoon, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.

UHP Sgt. Todd Royce said that no injuries were reported in either crash, but the accidents forced closures of northbound I-15 about 8 miles north of Tremonton as well as near the town of Willard.

At milepost 391, a truck hauling two 55-gallon drums rolled about noon and caught fire. Flames spread into nearby grass but were quickly doused, Royce said.

All but one lane had reopened at the scene of that accident as of 1 p.m.

About 11:15 a.m. Thursday, near milepost 358, a semi pulling a 30-foot trailer rolled. By 1 p.m., that section of I-15 had reopened.

The causes of the crashes were under investigation.
