A search resumed Friday along the Colorado River for a Moab rafter missing since June 6.
The San Juan County Sheriff's Office confirmed Friday that it is investigating the disappearance of Casey Menuey, 33.
He was rafting the river June 6 with six others who pulled over in Lathrop Canyon to explore a trail. Sometime during the hike, Menuey became separated from his companions, who spent several hours unsuccessfully looking for him before alerting the National Park Service. That stretch of river goes through Canyonlands National Park.
Park rangers were able to track Menuey back to the river bank, and authorities fear Menuey — who was not wearing a life preserver at the time, may have re-entered the runoff-swollen waters.
Over the past week, sheriff's deputies and NPS rangers likeß assisted in the air by Utah Department of Public Safety aircraft, have searched the river and its banks without finding any further trace of the missing rafter.
Search efforts were to continue as least through the weekend, the sheriff's office stated.
