A woman fell to her death Saturday hiking down from Donut Falls.

The 41-year-old Salt Lake County woman, whose name was not released Saturday, was hiking back from the Big Cottonwood Canyon destination when, about 2:30 p.m., she slipped and fell, said Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen. She fell about 100 feet before landing on rocks and died at the scene, Hansen said.

The woman had been hiking with family members at the time. Officers recovered her body Saturday evening.
