A man charged with killing another man inside an Ogden storage unit made his initial court appearance on Friday, and bail was set at $500,000.
Shawn Gerrald Boehme, 45, was charged Thursday in 2nd District Court with murder, a first-degree felony, and two counts of purchase, transfer, possession or use of a firearm by a restricted person, which are second-degree felonies.
Boehme allegedly confessed to fatally shooting 43-year-old Elgie Ray Mills Jr., following a disagreement at the storage unit on the afternoon of May 28.
Police have described the two men as friends.
Mills fled the scene and hid out until he was arrested Wednesday night in Layton.
Boehme subsequently admitted to police that he shot Mills three times, according to court documents. Mills was struck in the head and chest.
Boehme is scheduled to be in court again on June 11.
He faces up to life in prison, if convicted of the murder charge.
