The identity of a woman whose body was found in a east Salt Lake County irrigation canal earlier this week has been released.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal confirmed that the deceased, whose remains were recovered on Wednesday afternoon from the canal near 4100 S. Highland Drive, was Andrea Horsley, 40, of Holladay.

UPD is awaiting results of an autopsy to determine the cause of death, but detectives initially have ruled out foul play, Hoyal said.

A Millcreek woman's body was found in a canal Wednesday afternoon.

The woman lived in the area of the canal, UPD said.
