Details are steadily emerging about a four-vehicle crash in Tooele County.

About 9 p.m. Saturday, dispatchers received a call concerning a reckless driver traveling north on State Road 36. But before Utah Highway Patrol troopers could track down the driver, he struck a minivan on eastbound Interstate 80 near State Road 201, according to the UHP.

The van rolled multiple times, ejecting the driver and front passenger. UHP reports that people suffered serious injuries, but could not immediately elaborate on how many people were hurt or who they were.

The allegedly reckless driver fled the scene on foot, running east on the State Road 201 ramp, according to UHP. A trooper caught up to him and took him into custody.

Meanwhile, a second crash occurred as traffic slowed down for the first one. Between the two, all of the lanes were blocked for about an hour.

Investigators suspect alcohol was involved in both accidents.
