A Bountiful woman was hospitalized in serious condition after allegedly being stabbed by her husband during a Thursday morning parking lot argument.

Bountiful police Lt. Dave Edwards said the 43-year-old woman was rushed to Lakeview Hospital about 9:30 a.m. after her 50-year-old spouse purportedly first tried to run her down with his car, and then stabbed her multiple times.

Edwards said the suspect also was taken to the hospital for treatment of self-inflicted, though non-life threatening knife wounds.

The man had been wrestled to the ground and detained for police by customers at the Common Cents store, 400 N. 500 West, after they witnessed the attack in the parking lot, police said.

The woman told officers the incident stemmed from an argument over divorce.

Once the suspect is released from the hospital, he will be booked into the Davis County jail on suspicion of aggravated assault and/or attempted homicide, Edwards said.
