A barn fire in Sandy briefly closed down a section of 106th South Thursday morning, but no injuries were reported.

By 6:45 a.m. the road, a prime south Salt Lake Valley commuting arterial, had reopened.

Public safety dispatchers said the blaze, reported about 5:30 a.m., occurred behind a home at 490 E. 106th South.

The fire destroyed the barn but no animals were lost and firefighters kept flames from spreading to other structures.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
