A woman died Tuesday afternoon after her car rolled on Interstate 215 as she approached a traffic jam near Holladay.

Traffic was backed up near 4100 South due to two previous crashes when 50-year-old Kirsten K. Procter was driving a Lincoln Navigator north about 1:45 p.m., according to a Utah Highway Patrol press statement. Procter entered the traffic jam and overcorrected to the right, causing the Navigator to roll, troopers wrote.

Procter died from her injuries, troopers wrote. Two dogs in the vehicle survived; animal control officers took them from the crash scene.

Northbound lanes, which were blocked for several hours, had all been opened by about 5 p.m.
