Police in Provo are investigating the suspicious death of a 60-year-old woman.

The woman's adult son found her dead in their home, near 2000 West and 50 North, and called police about 4 p.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Matt Siufanua.

"The circumstances were very suspicious," Siufanua said. There was obvious trauma to the woman's body, but Siufanua would not discuss the cause of her death or any other details that were suspicious.

No one lives at the house except the woman and her son, Siufanua said. The son is not considered a suspect but is being interviewed by police.

"Detectives are meticulously going through the scene to help us to paint a picture of what occurred," Siufanua said.

The woman's body was to be taken to a medical examiner Wednesday night.

"We're not calling it a homicide," Siufanua said. "Not yet."
