A 24-year-old man remained in critical condition Wednesday, three days after being found unconscious at the scene of a Davis County single-vehicle rollover crash.

However, Davis County sheriff’s Sgt. Brandon Roundy said the Salt Lake County man’s condition had improved; doctors reported that his vital signs had been stabilized.

A deputy discovered the accident scene about 8:30 a.m. Monday. The victim’s heavily damaged car was in a field, where it had rolled off a frontage road near 500 South and Legacy Highway. The unconscious driver was found still inside the vehicle.

Investigators remain uncertain how long the man had been there, though witnesses reported seeing the crashed car as much as an hour before its discovery.

Speed and alcohol were suspected to be factors in the crash, which remained under investigation.

The victim was flown by medical helicopter to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
