No cash for scissor-wielding Orem McDonald’s robber

First Published May 12 2014 01:11 pm • Last Updated May 12 2014 10:37 pm

Orem police say a would-be robber ended up leaving a McDonald’s restaurant empty-handed — except for the pair of scissors he tried to use in the holdup.

The suspect — a 6-foot, 250-pound white man with a couple days’ growth of brown beard and wearing a black baseball cap, yellow-gray plaid short-sleeved shirt and blue jeans — came into the eatery at 1265 S. Sandhill Road about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Orem police Lt. Craig Martinez said the suspect approached the cashier and demanded $80 while brandishing the scissors, but instead of complying, the female cashier ran to the back of the business.

The suspect then fled the premises, got into a red or maroon, 4-door Dodge Stratus or Intrepid and drove away.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Orem police at 801-229-7070.
