A father was critically injured Sunday after witnesses say he allegedly ran a red light in West Valley City.

The 28-year-old was driving west on 6200 South when, as witnesses later told police, his silver Lexus ran the red at Mountain View Corridor, said police Lt. Dalan Taylor. A northbound pickup truck struck him broadside about 1:20 p.m.

The man had to be extricated from the Lexus and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Taylor said. However, his 4-year-old daughter was uninjured, "another testament to car seats," Taylor added.

The driver and passenger from the pickup were also taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The crash is still under investigation.
