One person was killed and a half dozen others were injured when the driver of a pickup truck ran a red light in Draper and collided with other vehicles, police said.
The crash occurred about 6:30 p.m. after the pickup truck driver, who was traveling at a high rate of speed on Lone Peak Parkway, crossed into the intersection at 12300 South, Sgt. Chad Carpenter said. The truck struck one vehicle, which started a chain reaction that caused five other cars to be hit.
The driver of one of the cars was killed at the scene and a minor in that vehicle suffered critical injuries, Carpenter said.
Four other people received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The pickup driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to fair condition. Carpenter said the man had been involved in a domestic dispute earlier but declined to give details.
The crash is under investigation.
