A semi-trailer rig carrying a load of rocks tipped over, closing down the ramp from westbound Interstate 215 to I-15 late Thursday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said the semi spilled much of its load of boulders onto the ramp about 8:30 a.m., forcing traffic to detour around the scene.

Royce said Utah Department of Transportation crews worked several hours to load the rocks into another truck. By 1 p.m., the ramp had reopened.

The 75-year-old driver of the semi escaped with minor injuries, Royce said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation.
