Salt Lake City police say an armed robber timed his crime to coincide with when Dollar Tree store employees were gathering their day's sales.

SLCPD Detective Veronica Montoya said staff at the business at 810 E. 200 S. were preparing their bank deposits when the suspect entered the store about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday.

He produced a weapon — police declined to further identify it, citing their ongoing investigation — and demanded and received cash.

The suspect — described as 5-foot-9, 170 pounds and wearing a ski mask and blue hooded sweatshirt — then fled the store on foot.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
