Police want the public's help in bringing to justice the suspects in a Sunday night shooting episode in west Salt Lake City, where two children were inside the targeted residence.

At 11:18 p.m., SLCPD received 911 calls reporting numerous shots had been fired near Parkview Elementary School, at 1005 S. Emery Street (about 1200 West).

Officers learned that two children were inside the targeted residence at the time the shots were fired, but neither was hit by bullets, though a window was broken and the house pierced by multiple gunshots.

The older child had reported hearing a knock at the door about one minute prior to the shots being fired.

The children's mother reportedly had left to get groceries shortly before the incident; no one else was inside the home at the time.

Police did not immediately have a description of the shooters, their vehicle or a motive for the attack.

Anyone with information in this incident is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
