An Ogden man shot and killed himself at the end of a standoff with police.

Police detectives arrived behind a duplex on the 1700 South block of Lincoln Avenue about noon Tuesday, while investigating car thefts, said Lt. Scott Connelly. Some people came out of the duplex, but one man refused to and barricaded himself inside, Connelly said.

The man was armed and did not want to go back to prison, Connelly said.

The man apparently shot himself to death about 4 p.m., department officials said Tuesday night.
