One man was killed and another critically injured on Interstate 15 near Lehi early Saturday when they were hit by a car driven by a motorist who apparently had fallen asleep.

The crash killed Boyd Miles, 42, of Franklin County, Virginia.

A semi-truck that had broken down was being hooked to a tow truck when the crash occurred at 2:34 a.m., according to the Utah Highway Patrol. The semi's two drivers were standing on the shoulder of southbound Interstate 15 when a Honda Civic drifted off the highway and struck them.

Miles died at the scene. The other truck driver was taken by helicopter to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where he was in extremely critical condition, the UHP said.

The Honda's driver was not injured.
