A 40-year-old man made up being sexually assaulted by two men outside a Vernal restaurant in early March, Vernal police said Thursday.

As a result, the man has been charged in Uintah County's 8th District Court with one count of class A misdemeanor providing a false statement and two counts of class B misdemeanor providing false information to a police officer.

The man told police he was attacked in an alley at about 10:30 p.m. on March 8 after leaving Quarry Steakhouse and Brewery, 25 S. Vernal Ave.

He claimed the attackers described only as two white males, overpowered and assaulted him, then looted his car, which was parked nearby.
