Provo fire investigators believe a duplex blaze they extinguished Saturday morning was the third arson at the building in three weeks.

About 3:48 a.m. , firefighters responded to the fire near 10 W. 4800 North and found the vacant duplex engulfed in flames, according to a news release. They fought the blaze, from the outside only, for more than two hours before extinguishing it, said Provo Fire Marshal Lynn Schofield.

One firefighter suffered minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

The dilapidated duplex is part of the same complex as three duplexes that were set on fire last weekend and two more duplexes hit on March 24, Schofield said. Investigators believe all of the incidents were arson, since the complex is devoid of power and gas and there were signs of flammable liquids.

They still plan on sending evidence to the state crime lab for further analysis. In the meantime, investigators are asking for the public "to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious activity," according to the release.

Anyone with information about these fires is asked to call 801-852-6210 or 801-852-6339.
