A second brush fire south of Utah Lake turned out to be a controlled burn.

The fire, reported shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday, was the second fire in three days. On Sunday, firefighters extinguished an estimated 75-acre brush fire in the same area.

Firefighters soon learned that the source of the smoke was a landowner conducting a large burn operation near Benjamin, on the southeast corner of the lake. Fire personnel remained on scene to assist.
