Utah forecast: Slightly cooler and drier north, warm south

First Published Apr 15 2014 07:08 am • Last Updated Apr 15 2014 07:48 am

Northern Utah looks for slightly cooler temperatures under partly cloudy skies as it enters the midweek, but after showers Tuesday night the region is in store for a dry Wednesday.

Highs Wednesday were expected to retreat into the upper-50s along the Wasatch Front from Tuesday’s upper-60s. Evening winds of 10-20 mph also were predicted by the National Weather Service.

Southern Utahns were to remain warm, though, with Wednesday highs around 80 degrees under mostly clear, sunny skies, a mirror forecast of that for Tuesday. Evening breezes in the 10-20 mph range were forecast as well.

The Utah Division of Air Quality hoisted its "green," or healthy for breathing banners statewide through the midweek period.

However, the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website reported cedar and maple pollen levels were "very high" as the week got underway, with oak "high," and cottonwood, ash and birch pollens at "moderate" levels.
