Salt Lake City police have identified a teenager who was killed last Friday when his skateboard crashed into the side of a pickup truck.
Juan Carlos Zuniga, 14, died when his westbound "long board" style skateboard, traveling at a high rate of speed, careened off Yale Avenue and into the northbound pickup at 1300 East about 2 p.m. Friday, police said Monday.
Paramedics pronounced Zuniga dead at the scene.
Investigators concluded that neither drugs nor alcohol were involved. Rather, the long board was traveling too fast for Zuniga to stop in time to avoid the collision.
