A stretch of Highway 89 in Weber County was closed Thursday afternoon after a semi-trailer rig crashed, taking down a power line.

Utah Department of Transportation spokesman Vic Saunders said the 1 p.m. accident forced closure of both northbound and southbound lanes in the area of 3900 South in Pleasant View.

Traffic was diverted to alternative routes until the wreckage was cleared and the power line restored.

The road reopened about 5:30 p.m.

There was no immediate estimate for when the highway would reopen.

No injuries were reported.
