First Published Apr 09 2014 09:28 am • Last Updated Apr 09 2014 12:33 pm

All southbound lanes of Interstate 15 in South Salt Lake were shut down Wednesday morning after a multi-vehicle crash left a truck tanker trailer leaking pesticide onto the freeway.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce said three people — a woman and her two children — were taken to hospitals with minor injuries after their PT Cruiser collided with the truck at 8:51 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-15 at 3300 South.

Salt Lake County Health Department personnel were dispatched to the scene to test samples of the leak. Traffic was diverted around the accident site onto surface streets until wreckage was cleared, cleanup completed and the stretch of freeway reopened about 10:30 a.m.
