Salt Lake City police are investigating the apparent drowning of a man believed to have broken into the pool at the Northwest Recreation Center.

Police were called to the facility, at 1255 W. 300 North, just before 6 a.m. Thursday after center staff arriving for work found the man floating in the pool.

Police found that windows leading into the pool area had been broken and learned that the man had been seen outside the facility alone shortly before the break-in.

The deceased was identified as Michael Davis, 58.

His body, which showed no obvious signs of trauma, was turned over to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and official determination of cause of death.
