More than 3,500 Rocky Mountain Power customers in southern Salt Lake County were without power for about an hour on Wednesday afternoon.

The outage — caused by an unspecified transmission interruption — affected about 3,523 Riverton and Bluffdale area residents with ZIP codes 84065, 84065, 84095 and 84096.

The outage occurred at 1:42 p.m. Power was restored at 2:39 p.m.

Another outage, in northern Utah County, had affected more than 9,000 residents in Highland, Alpine and American Fork. That outage lasted about 30 minutes, beginning at about 1:30 p.m.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Jeff Hymas said the Utah County outage was caused by a downed power line in the Cedar Hills area. Power was rerouted to the affected homes while crews made repairs, Hymas said.
