A fire that erupted Saturday afternoon in Morgan destroyed a building, several trucks and other equipment.

Reports of a fire at 800 E. 100 South came in at 4:44 p.m., according to Morgan Fire Chief Dave Rich. When crews arrived, they found flames pouring out of a metal building that served both a Polaris recreational vehicle dealership as well as a construction company. Rich said firefighters had to fall back within five minutes.

It took crews another hour and a half to knock the fire "down where we felt good," Rich said. Rich and other fire personnel didn't leave the scene until after 10 p.m.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Rich said Saturday it did not appear to be suspicious.

The blaze did not cause any injuries. However, Rich said the building — which included storage and offices — was a loss. The fire also destroyed construction trucks, a motorcycle, welders, an overhead crane, wood working machinery and other equipment.

Rich estimated that damage at about $1 million.

About 23 firefighters from Morgan, South Ogden, Weber County and Mountain Green responded to the blaze.
