Utah guide shot by clients at private hunt club
A 60-year-old man was wounded by shotgun pellets Saturday morning while guiding a group of hunters at a privately owned hunting club in Cache County.
Lt. Mike Peterson, of the Cache County Sheriff's Office, identified the guide as Craig Bingham, who works for Sportsman's Paradise, a privately owned pheasant hunting club on White's Ranch in Paradise. He was guiding a group of nine hunters from the Huntsville area.
"At one point, a number of pheasants flushed from cover, causing a number of people in the hunting party to fire their weapons in different directions," Peterson said.
Bingham was standing about 80 yards in front of the hunting party when he was struck in the left eye, hand and thigh, according to Peterson.
The victim was transported to Logan Regional Hospital.
Peterson said the most significant injury was to the victim's eye, which will require surgery. None of the injuries are life-threatening.
