Salt Lake City police were looking for a suspect who fired his gun at least twice before fleeing the scene of an abortive holdup.

Police said the incident took place just prior to midnight Monday when the man entered offices of the Overniter Motor Inn at 1500 W. North Temple Street and demanded money from the clerk.

When the clerk refused, the suspect fired once into a wall and ran from the building, where he fired once more in an unknown direction before driving away.

Police were still developing a suspect description Tuesday, but said the gunman was last seen leaving the area as a passenger in a white Dodge Stratus.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
