A minor earthquake rattled a remote area of north-central Utah’s Wasatch Mountains late Friday morning, but caused no damage to nearby communities.

The University of Utah seismograph stations recorded the temblor at 10:03 a.m. Seismologists said the 3.2-magnitude quake occurred about nine miles deep and its epicenter was three miles southwest of the Summit County hamlet of Woodland, about 30 miles northeast of Provo.

The quake initially was not reported to have been felt either there or in nearby towns, including Francis, Kamas and Samak — all within six miles of the epicenter.
