Police were looking Wednesday for two armed and masked suspects who held up a southeast Salt Lake City sandwich shop.

Salt Lake City police Detective Dennis McGowan said the two, wearing dark ski masks, entered the Subway restaurant at 2885 S. Highland Drive about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Brandishing a weapon — police withheld details on what kind, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation — the bandits demanded cash from an employee and then dashed out of the shop, jumped into a car and sped away.

The getaway vehicle was described as a late-90s model gray or silver four-door sedan. It was last seen heading east on Crandall Avenue.

One of the suspects was described as a white male, 6-foot, medium build, wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt and gloves in addition to the mask. The second man was also white, about 6-foot, and also wore blue jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
