CNN ambushes Sen. Mike Lee at fundraiser. Herbert unveils Medicaid expansion plan. Lawmakers, Count My Vote supporters seek compromise.

Happy Friday. CNN continued its "Keeping Them Honest" series last night with a look at the high-priced fundraisers that politicians throw to bring in cash for their campaigns. Their target this time: Sen. Mike Lee of Utah. CNN videotaped Lee at a ski weekend at Snowbird with lobbyists and confronted him to ask why he does these sort of fundraisers. [CNN]

Topping the news: Gov. Gary Herbert released his plan to use subsidies to help low-income Utahns buy private healthcare coverage. His proposal would use $258 million in federal funds. -> Sen. Stuart Adams, R-Layton, is proposing a bill permitting Utahns to pay up to $1 on their natural gas and electric bills to fund air quality initiatives. Customers who don't want to pay would have to opt-out. [DNews]

-> A bill to freeze the boundaries of unincorporated Salt Lake County and start to study a possible new form of government for the areas moves to the full Senate. -> Remember during the government shutdown when all those congressman promised to give back their salaries? Well, it turns out that at least 109 of them either put their earnings into government accounts to pay the national debt or donated the money to charity. [WaPost] Here's a list of which lawmakers donated to charity. Rep. Jim Matheson donated his $7,900 pay during the shutdown to 15 Utah charities. [WaPost]

-> President Barack Obama announced a new initiative to urge civic leaders, nonprofits and communities to help young black men and men of color more opportunities that will lead to successful lives. [NYTimes]

Herbert also holds a Cabinet meeting, sits down with Cherilyn Eager from the American Leadership Fund and with Kennecott Managing Director and COO Stephane Leblanc.

Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox speaks to Hispanic Economic Summit/Latin Expo, also hits the governor's Cabinet meeting and the Weber County Lincoln Day dinner.

SL Co. Mayor Ben McAdams attends a roundtable with Michael Botticelli, White House Director of the Office of National Drug Control and Policy and also goes to the Granite Community meeting with Sandy Mayor Dolan.
