Dead inmate: Cache County awaits autopsy, but no foul play suspected
The cause of death for an inmate found unresponsive in his Cache County Jail cell likely won't be known for several days, authorities said Thursday.
Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Peterson said that Bradley Roach, 47, of Providence, was discovered unconscious by jailers about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was later pronounced dead at Logan Regional Hospital.
The body has been turned over to the state Medical Examiner's Office for forensic testing and an autopsy.
Peterson said results were expected "within the next few days [but] there was no obvious evidence of foul play, so the initial indication is some sort of medical related event."
The sheriff's office also is conducting an investigation into the death, he said.
Roach had been arrested on Tuesday and booked into jail on suspicion of intoxication, possession of a dangerous weapon, discharging a dangerous weapon within city limits and criminal mischief.
