A truck driver was injured after his semitrailer was hit by a FrontRunner train Wednesday in Salt Lake City.

The driver had pulled through the rail crossing at 1725 North and stopped to check his GPS about 5 p.m., said Utah Transit Authority spokesman Remi Barron.

"He thought he had pulled far enough forward, but apparently he hadn't," Barron said. The train hit the trailer near the back tire; both the train and the truck sustained heavy damage.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital but injuries appeared to be minor and he was expected to survive, Barron said.

No one else was injured.

The tracks were closed at the crash site for about three hours; passengers took a shuttle bus around the scene.
