Salt Lake City police on Tuesday were looking for a suspect who forced his way into a closing west-side business, roughed up an employee and then stole his car.

Police Detective Dennis McGowan said the male victim was closing up the Boost Mobile store, 715 S. 900 West, about 8:15 p.m. Monday when he was confronted by the suspect, a black male in his 30s, about 5-foot-6, heavy set and wearing a black jacket, hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a goatee and mustache.

The suspect forced the employee back inside the business, assaulted him and, after looking around inside the store, took the victim’s keys and drove off with his white Honda Accord.

Citing the ongoing nature of the investigation, police would not identify the weapon used or provide a license plate number for the stolen car.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call SLCPD at 801-799-3000.
