A hit-and-run semi-trailer rig driver crashed into a power pole in central Salt Lake City early Tuesday and triggered a brief, localized electrical outage.

The 6:48 a.m. crash occurred at 700 East and South Temple Street. Police said they were trying to locate the big rig, which left the scene before they arrived.

It took emergency crews an hour to clear the scene for traffic through the area to resume.

Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen said that as of 8:15 a.m., no customers were reported to be without service in the area of the crash.
